Magnificent Monday Motivation Moment – Use the Power of Checklists

It’s another Magnificent Monday!

You’ve been blessed to see the start of another glorious week. The slate has been wiped clean (of the good and bad). You have another opportunity to BE MORE and DO BETTER. This week can be your best week ever! Great achievements are just a string of successful days and weeks tied together.

Here’s a quote that is particularly insightful and motivating:

People often say that motivation doesn’t last. Well, neither does bathing – that’s why we recommend it daily. ~ Zig Ziglar

THIS WEEK’S TIP: USE THE POWER OF A CHECKLIST

You can dramatically increase productivity if you use the power of a written checklist as often as possible. I think the checklist is one of the greatest productivity tools ever invented. I have one for virtually every aspect of my business: taking product orders, setting up speaking engagements, staff meetings, and so on. At home, I have one for packing for trips, grocery shopping, taking vitamin supplements, chores, and so on.

The simplicity of checklists, however, undermines their perceived value. I’ve had many who’ve come through my office who told me they didn’t need or didn’t have time for a checklist … these “things” (they believed) were all easy to remember. These are the same individuals who regularly overlooked details and made costly mistakes. In almost every instance, the mistake could have been
avoided if they would have just used the (painstakingly prepared) checklist. Needless to say, these individuals don’t last long in my office. There is simply no need to commit every necessary detail to memory. This is in no way suggesting that details are not important. Any one who has their own business knows that the “real” money is made in the details. To the contrary, there is just no need to always think about the details when a tool like a checklist is readily available.

THIS WEEK’S AFFIRMATION: I accept that checklists are powerful productivity tools. I will look for all the ways in which I can use checklists in my business and personal life and then take the time to create them.

Until next Monday, keep expecting the best FROM and FOR yourself!

Magnificent Monday Motivation Moment – Keep Your Perspective in Check

It’s another Magnificent Monday!

You’ve been blessed to see the start of another glorious week. The slate has been wiped clean (of the good and bad). You have another opportunity to BE MORE and DO BETTER. This week can be your best week ever! Great achievements are just a string of successful days and weeks tied together.

Here’s a quote that is particularly insightful and motivating:

We don’t see things as they are. We see things as we are.  ~Anais Nin

THIS WEEK’S TIP: Keep Your Perspective in Check

It is so easy to get caught up in the way we do things that we forget that our way is not the only way of accomplishing a particular goal. Sometimes, our way is not even the right way for us.  One of my quotes that I use frequently in my presentations is:

“Arrogance not only prevents you from seeing the big picture, it makes you think your view is the big picture.”

Both quotes above are related to the two same points:
(1) You are always seeing things through the filter of your own experiences, values and beliefs.
(2) There is always a bigger picture than what you are seeing or thinking right now.

So, in any situation (whether it be a joyful or stressful one), remember that your view of a situation is just one way of viewing that situation and that there is always more to the situation than what you’re seeing at the moment.

THIS WEEK’S AFFIRMATION: I will remember that my perspective is part of a larger world in which everyone’s perspective serves an important role.

Until next Monday, keep expecting the best FROM and FOR yourself!

Magnificent Monday Motivation Moment – Do it Now!

It’s another Magnificent Monday!

You have been blessed to see the start of another glorious week. The slate has been wiped clean (of the good and bad). You have another opportunity to BE MORE and DO BETTER. This week can be your best week ever! Remember, success is just a string of successful weeks tied together.

Here’s a quote that is particularly insightful and motivating:

Do it now.

~ W. Clement Stone

THIS WEEK’S TIP: Do it Now!

The weekly tip a few weeks ago was “Get Things Done.” This week’s tip takes that a clarifying step further by adding “Do It Now.” As a strategic planning expert, you should know that I firmly believe thinking and planning are important. However, consistent action is far more important. You don’t get paid for your thoughts and plans — you only get paid for your results.

W. Clement Stone built an insurance empire worth hundreds of millions dollars and was at one time considered to be the richest man in America (and perhaps the entire world). He attributed his success to his positive mindset and his “do it now” philosophy. He is reported to have required all of his employees to recite “do it now” fifty times in unison at the start of each workday. His employees were known to be some of the most productive workers in the work force.

It is easy during the holiday season to throw your disciplined routine out the window in the name of “enjoying” the holidays. Don’t do that! It will take you weeks to reestablish your rhythm and routine and regain your momentum. So, when you feel the tendency towards laziness and distractions taking over, stop and say out loud, “Do it now! Do it now! Do it now!”

THIS WEEK’S AFFIRMATION: Do it now! Do it now! Do it now!

Until next Monday, expect the best FROM and FOR yourself!

Magnificent Monday Motivation Moment – Become Devoted to Your Goals

It’s another Magnificent Monday!

You have been blessed to see the start of another glorious week. The slate has been wiped clean (of the good and bad). You have another opportunity to BE MORE and DO BETTER. This week can be your best week ever! Remember, success is just a string of successful weeks tied together.

Here’s a quote that is particularly insightful and motivating:

I know the price of success: dedication, hard work, and an unremitting devotion to the things you want to see happen.

~ Frank Lloyd Wright

THIS WEEK’S TIP: Become Devoted to Your Goals

Be honest with yourself … how committed are you to achieving your goals? I’ve frequently said in my keynote presentations that you can easily and accurately predict how likely a person is to achieve his or her stated goals just by observing them for one week. How is that possible? That’s possible because consistent actions really do speak louder than words.

Would someone who observed you for one week walk away from that experience firmly predicting that you will achieve your stated goals? Have you ever considered what your actions are saying about you? Do they say that you are merely giving lip service to really nice wishes, or do they say you are devoted to manifesting great things in your life?

THIS WEEK’S AFFIRMATION: Everyday, I consciously and deliberately spend my productive time executing the tasks, tactics and strategies that propel me closer to the achievement of my most important goals.

Until next Monday, expect the best FROM and FOR yourself!

Magnificent Monday Motivation Moment – Small Changes Can Make a Big Difference

It’s another Magnificent Monday!

You have been blessed to see the start of another glorious week. The slate has been wiped clean (of the good and bad). You have another opportunity to BE MORE and DO BETTER. This week can be your best week ever! Remember, success is just a string of successful weeks tied together.

Here’s a quote that is particularly insightful and motivating:

Small hinges swing big doors.

~ W. Clement Stone

THIS WEEK’S TIP: Small Changes Can Make a Big Difference

One of the biggest challenges I most often see for many new members of The Strategic Thinker’s Mastermind and Inner Circle is the desire for the “big” break or the “big” thing to happen in their business or personal life. This is not necessarily a bad thing. However, this desire becomes a stumbling block when all the “small” things are overlooked or consciously ignored. While you’re waiting for the “big” thing to happen, take advantage of and cultivate the “small” things. You will likely find that the “big” thing you were looking for is the result of a combination of seemingly “small” things.

THIS WEEK’S AFFIRMATION: In all that I do, I consciously and deliberately give my best effort knowing that even seemingly small things can propel me closer to the achievement of my most important goals.

Until next Monday, expect the best FROM and FOR yourself!

Magnificent Monday Motivation Moment – APPLY WISDOM

It’s another Magnificent Monday!

You have been blessed to see the start of another glorious week. The slate has been wiped clean (of the good and bad). You have another opportunity to BE MORE and DO BETTER. This week can be your best week ever! Remember, success is just a string of successful weeks tied together.

Here’s a quote that is particularly insightful and motivating:

To be brave in misfortune is to be worthy of manhood; to be wise in misfortune is to conquer fate.

~ Agnes Repplier

THIS WEEK’S TIP: APPLY WISDOM

I already know that those of you reading this Magnificent Monday Motivation Moment believe in the value of receiving new and inspiring perspectives on the challenges you face. I’m certain that the information I provide is not the only new and inspiring perspectives that you have chosen to receive. What I don’t know, and only you can answer, is whether you are really applying the knowledge and insights you receive.

So often, despite the best of intentions, we don’t make real changes to the way we do things. We nod in agreement to new insights and vow to apply new information. However, when we closely examine our behavior and routines, we often realize that we have not changed much at all. Take time (I recommend scheduling it on your calendar) to consciously and deliberately have a reality check to identify exactly what you are doing differently. This is the way to determine what is really working (and not working) for you. Only then can you make wise choices about your next steps.

THIS WEEK’S AFFIRMATION: Because I know that nothing changes if nothing changes, I consciously and deliberately examine my behavior and routines so that I know specific changes I desire really are being made.

Until next Monday, expect the best FROM and FOR yourself!
